Carrying out events during the COVID-19 pandemic is not an easy task, and the coronavirus has marked a before and after in history, completely changing the course of people, causing large sectors of the economy to put the brakes on and forcing people to stay home to fight this pandemic.

But, as it is necessary to recover the economy and society in this new normal, we have set out in search of the current measures that events in Spain have so that they can develop safely.

Masks are still indispensable

Yes, they are extremely important, especially in times when social distancing is not guaranteed. That is why you have to wear a mask during the event and remind all your guests to wear one too, as well as how to use it correctly and how often to change it.

Events will have supplies

Yes, don’t worry because during the event you will have accessible toilets and enough supplies for people to wash their hands, as well as to cover themselves when they cough or sneeze.

The supplies we are talking about are soap, water, paper towels, hand dryer, disposable tissues, hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol, disinfectant wipes, masks, non-contact bins, etc.

Different greetings

Gone are handshakes and kisses, since now direct contact with people has to be avoided. This is why in your event you have to remind all guests that when greeting each other they must do so with their elbows, putting their hand on their own heart, raising a hand, bumping their feet or even bowing, any option will work!

Public information systems

With this we are referring to posters that promote daily protection measures and describe how to stop the spread of germs, that is why during your event you must have visible advertisements that indicate how to wash your hands correctly, how to use masks correctly, etc.

Events with healthy environments

Yes, now everything is cleaner than ever, so if you are celebrating your event in Spain, don’t worry about this, since frequently touched surfaces are disinfected as much as possible, such as door handles, taps, sinks, rails, handrails and cash registers, among other things.

The arrangements have been modified

So that the capacity and the numbers of people in the areas have been limited to favour social distancing, in addition now smaller events are organised in larger rooms, having space with several entrances and exits to avoid people going past each other.

Also in events, priority is given to those that are held outdoors, since this way social distancing can be maintained much more.

Bathrooms are limited

At these times, the number of people entering the bathroom is limited to ensure social distancing.

People are not allowed to form queues nor crowd near the toilets without maintaining a distance of at least a metre and a half.

Ventilation is ensured

Now for events the ventilation systems are checked to ensure that they work correctly so that the circulation of air from the outside increases as much as possible, for example, when opening doors and windows.

If you use portable ventilation equipment, such as fans, in your event, measures are taken to reduce the air that flows directly from one person to another to reduce the potential for the spread of any airborne or aerosol transmitted viruses.

Guides and physical barriers

This is one of the most common measures, where there are guides or physical barriers in view of everyone to ensure that people remain at least a metre and a half away in queues and other times, such as signs to indicate one way traffic, tape on the floor or pavements and posters on the walls.

It is also advisable to place physical barriers, such as partitions, in areas where it is difficult for people to maintain a distance.

Food service is safe too

In this new normal, at events meals are served on individual plates using disposable tableware, such as utensils, plates, glasses and cutlery.

Waiters use gloves at all times to handle the dishes and utensils, and in addition now they avoid offering self-service food or drinks, such as a buffet service, salad bar or drinks to minimise contact with other people.

Designated Point of Contact for COVID-19

One of the most current measures is to designate an authority or office to be in charge of responding to concerns about COVID-19. All staff members and guests will know who this person is or what the office is and how to contact them when they need it.

Remember to be cautious!

If you have symptoms of the disease, have tested positive for COVID-19 or have been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 14 days, stay home and do not attend any events.

This way, together, we will be able to defeat the virus.
