In one of the beechwoods can be found El Cavaller de Vidrà. It is one of the largest farm houses of Catalonia with a safeguarding architectural heritage, located in an estate which the origin goes back to the 13thcentury.

It is an unique building of the baroque style dating back to 1787. We did not hesitate to get closer to this historic and exceptional setting, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and nature, where this architectural jewel lies. On your way to the farmhouse, located approximately at one hour away from Barcelona, we cross incredible forests. Through the journey, we enjoy some of the spectacular views of the sierra, with its rivers, its chapels, its animals and its people… We let us surround by its atmosphere, its invaluable beauty that brings us to a deep peaceful state of connexion with the nature.

We arrive to a big estate, surrounded by centenarian beech trees where we are welcomed by vast turfs, trees and colored flowers perfectly cared of. We observe that there is an important parking space to facilitate the access to all guests for big events.

In front of our eyes lay the Cavaller de Vidrà’s facade. It is truly beautiful. We love its windows and balconies but what brings our attention even more are the bullet holes that are present on the whole façade of this historical building and which possibly lie there since the Carlist wars and bring to the venue a captivation and an unmatched value.

Following a stone path, at our right, a small balcony’s passageway brings together the principal building with a lovely tower. Under this terrace, a big wood door opens in front of us to allow to access the large courtyard that precedes the farmhouse’s principal entrance.

The stone floor reflects the sun rays. We can see from below the three floors that compose the house. Each one of them has a nice gallery with a superior terrace and an inferior porch, all of them designed with stone columns, white arches and ceiling’s wood beams, thus giving a very special aspect to the farmhouse. One of the large picture windows allow the light to enter and illuminate all the interior spaces which are without doubt as nice as the building’s exterior.

Yes, thank you really much. Waouh, those old wood furniture’s are such in a good conservation state! They have an interesting history for sure. Could you tell us about Es Cavaller de Vidrá’s origin to nowadays? When and how did this venue became a special space for weddings and other types of events ?

Let me tell you…It is a house where the family spends summers but a certain time came when they stopped coming and we wanted to share the beauty of this place with more people and above all for those who are looking for a venue for such a special day as their wedding.

For sure you keep many good memories of this house and I believe that it is a great idea that it now holds new precious memories. And tell us, what is the typical profile of clients that usually contact you to celebrate their special day in Es Cavaller de Vidrá?

Mainly people who treasure the environment and the history of the place.

The estate is precious. What are the types of spaces that compose it and how do you choose them for wedding celebration?

We have many venues, each of them specially designed and prepared for each moment of the celebration: the ceremonies are held in the private chapel or in the gardens, the appetizers in the backside of the house, the llisa, an outdoor venue with a fantastic view and very welcoming. The dinner or the meal usually takes place in the cottage, a structure with a high roof and wood beams, a truly unique place and then the dance and the end of the party inside the house, is in the living room that is next to the llisa. In case that it rains, there are special interior spaces to do the appetizer, ceremony and dinner.

I heard that you also have a library? Can we see it?

Yes, of course.

This library is a real wonder, it must have an important historic value, there are books and documents dating back to the Middle age. Amazing!

Now, I’d like to show you the chapel. We cross different rooms of white roofs and walls and we arrive to the chapel.

What an amazing venue ! Can we celebrate religious ceremonies in its inside ? And what about civil weddings, where is the most suitable venue for this type of ceremony?

As I was telling you earlier, yes, you can celebrate religious ceremonies in the chapel, it is usually a very intimate and beautiful experience. For the civil ceremonies, the most sought-after venue are the gardens. The environment cannot be better…

I do agree… I understand that you also offer accommodation. What can you offer to the couple or the guests so that their stay at Es Cavaller de Vidrá becomes unforgettable? Do you also organize activities in this high-end place?

Well, the house offers accommodation for 14 guests, but five minutes away by foot there are several places in which the rest of the guests could stay, and they have no reason not to: after all, being able to stay at an eighteenth-century house is a great privilege.

We organize an activity which is a forest bath or nature therapy, in depth, an unique experience that can be fulfilled only in 4 places in Catalonia.

Even though we haven’t talked yet about your gastronomic offer. What does it consist of? What are the last trends for weddings on the culinary level?

Well, we offer diverse types of cuisine of a high gastronomic level, so that the client can get a tailored wedding.

For what I know, you have a vast panel of expert professionals who help at any time the clients and are in charge of all the planification and organization so that the couple only enjoy their day. What are you exactly in charge of and how do you manage the couples?

Yes, this is sure, we help them to find suppliers and the day of the event we are in charge of organizing everything so that they don’t worry about anything.

A last question, what do you think that makes Es Cavaller de Vidrà different from other venues and why should couple choose it for their wedding in Catalonia ?

Well, it is a venue in full nature and really different from others. It offers a personalized and caring service.
