What will children’s parties be like in 2022?

If you’re wondering how children’s parties will be in 2022, don’t miss out on this interview.

If you’re already thinking about the preparations for your son or daughter’s children’s party, undeniably one of the first things you will have thought about is what children’s parties will be like next year. And after this year of pandemic, full of uncertainty, it’s only normal that you ask yourself this question.

We’re sure that as well as searching through countless blogs to find the party your children have always dreamed of, you also have a lot of doubts about whether children’s parties have changed as a result of Covid.

That’s why at Perfect Venue we always want to help you with everything you need to make your party the way you’ve always dreamt it would be and leave the fear and uncertainty that Covid has caused behind… We have contacted some of the best professionals in the industry and we have asked them the questions that will interest you most right now!

The professionals, whom we admire for their work and ability to create children’s parties, here to tell us all about it are: Tábatha Pastelería, Zumo Animaciones,  Tus Mejores Fiestas and Pastel Chic.

You can’t miss them! You’ll be much more relaxed and confident that, despite the pandemic, you can still hold the perfect party.

1. How do you think childrens’ parties will look in 2021? Better than in 2020? Worse than in 2022?

Tábatha Pastelería: Bearing in mind that last year we were at a standstill with no events, this year is much better than last year, the big difference being that the quantities of orders have gone down. That is to say, those who used to order a 20-portion cake will now only order a maximum of 6 portions. I think this situation for 2021 will improve significantly.

Zumo Animaciones: For now we think it’s a bit more hopeful than 2020. People are eager to celebrate, so they’re encouraged to hold events, even if they are very small, respecting the COVID prevention measures. We hope that as time and vaccination progresses, the capacity will increase and that 2022 will be much more similar to pre-Covid times.

Tus Mejores Fiestas: I think that with 2020 definitely being the worst year, children’s parties can only get better in 2021 and 2022. The difference is that this year we will still have restrictions and have to adapt to them being a bit smaller. I think that in 2022 we’ll be able to celebrate again with a lot of people…which means that we will have overcome the pandemic and can celebrate in style!

Pastel Chic: The situation looks good, but people are still afraid of COVID-19, so for the time being there won’t be any big celebrations. Most people are just celebrating with their families.

2. What changes will we see in upcoming celebrations? Will we see new trends in children’s parties, and if so, what?

Tábatha Pastelería: The changes are clear, more attention is being paid to the details at parties, personalisation, and people have been encouraged to celebrate, even if it is at home. The important thing is that this important date does not go unnoticed, regardless of whether it’s for a child or an adult. The new trends in celebration that we’ve noticed are that we’re having new proposals in balloons, more personalised bouquets with a slightly glamorous touch. The concept of decorating with balloons has evolved so we can decorate events for companies, adults with them, not just kids. Balloons, with their new finishes and fashionable colour palettes, have become an important element when decorating spaces and events – we’ve left behind the idea that balloons are only for children’s parties.

Zumo Animaciones: The main change will be the number of guests, which has been greatly reduced due to COVID-19 measures. We’ve also changed party format many times – 2020 was the year of online children’s parties, which enabled us to share special occasions with friends and family even if we couldn’t see them in person. We’ve held many events where guests received a snack at their own home along with an invitation to join a video call. There, the entertainer was waiting for them with lots of surprises. All the guests could play and have fun together, thus shortening the distances that separated us and making us feel much closer.

Tus Mejores Fiestas: Certainly, it is now very fashionable to celebrate at home as if it were a party before the pandemic. That is, with balloons, sweets, cake … but all this adapted to the restrictions of the number of people, so everything is done to a lesser extent.

Pastel Chic: There are always changes – new trends, new products, etc.

3. What new needs do parents have when thinking about decoration that are more popular now?

Tábatha Pastelería: Nowadays, with the times we live in, parents are just going for the essentials, i.e. the cake and the balloons, as this is all you really need to celebrate. Cutting the cake and blowing out the candles is still the main thing and then the balloons always give a touch of joy and fun.

Zumo Animaciones: Nowadays they’re looking to fully immerse themselves into the magic of the story/chosen theme. For kids, the decoration of the party helps them to travel far away or to celebrate with their favourite characters. With the decorations we can create a beautiful atmosphere and let our imagination fly to a tropical jungle, a pirate ship, or a rainbow with unicorns flying over it!

Tus Mejores Fiestas: Parents want to see their children happy. After what we’ve experienced this past year I think we’re looking to celebrate with the child’s favourite theme and basically celebrate two years in one. Many children weren’t able to enjoy their birthday in 2020 so they have twice the amount of energy as they usually would. As I said, the party at home is going to stick around at least until the pandemic is over, but ideally it should be personalised and adapted to the children’s tastes.

Pastel Chic: Most of them like balloons, decorative boxes for sweets, pretty cakes and all kinds of decorated and personalised cakes.

4. What’s forecast for 2021 and 2022? Will there be a higher volume of children’s parties?

Tábatha Pastelería: This year there are still celebrations, although with few people, the trend is undoubtedly that now they’re mostly outdoors. This concept will continue for a long time and in 2022 we expect the normalisation of the events, however nothing will be the exact same.

Zumo Animaciones: We hope so! As we said before, people, both children and adults, are eager to get together with their loved ones and friends – they want to celebrate, dance, play and just let themselves go. As soon as measures have relaxed a bit, people are calling us to try to organise celebrations in line with Covid guidelines. We sincerely hope that when all this improves we’ll have a lot of parties behind us and a lot more to enjoy.

Tus Mejores Fiestas: Yes, compared to 2020 that’s for sure.

Pastel Chic: Yes, I think so. Most people love celebrating their kids’ parties with cake, friends and gifts.

5. Do you think kids’ parties will be full of other children or will they celebrate more with close family?

Tábatha Pastelería: They will be much more intimate and will always follow hygiene and safety guidelines. People are being very careful nowadays, although people are celebrating they’re being much more cautious. For example, now the desserts and sweets are packaged individually so that everyone gets their own dessert and doesn’t put their hands in jars or things like that

Zumo Animaciones: They will probably be more intimate and over time the number of guests will increase until we go back to having big parties like the ones we used to have.

Tus Mejores Fiestas: For now they will be much more intimate and will be held in batches. So one for closest family, then for best friends and so on.

Pastel Chic: For now they’re smaller and more intimate, but gradually people will celebrate in bigger groups like they used to.

6. Children’s entertainers in costume and big-heads are more fashionable than ever, what is it that they bring to the party that makes everyone want to have one?

Tábatha Pastelería: The big-heads play an important role in kids parties – they’re a major attraction for the children. Seeing their favourite characters live and in the flesh is a huge plus for the party and undoubtedly something that the children will not forget.

Zumo Animaciones: Animation is, in our opinion, a fundamental part of children’s parties. They give children an opportunity to imagine, to travel to new worlds and to become their favourite characters. Children enjoy playing by themselves, but they usually do it on a daily basis. Animation, when carried out by professionals, makes a big difference to the party. The children will be thrilled, they’ll laugh their heads off, they’ll be amazed by the magic, they’ll give their all in the games, they’ll dance to their favourite songs and they’ll fully immerse themselves in the party’s story.

Tus Mejores Fiestas: They bring fun and something different which hasn’t been seen before.

Pastel Chic: They bring a lot of fun, different games and dances. The kids never tire of them.

7. What will the cakes and sweets we see on the tables be like? What novelties should we expect to see?

Tábatha Pastelería: As I was saying earlier, one of the main changes is that everything must be individually packaged, so as to avoid people touching several things on the table as much as possible. At the moment people are suggesting little boxes of personalised sweets decorated with the theme that look very pretty on the table and are very eye-catching, as are the decorated biscuits, packaged with a ribbon, which are ideal and can be taken home as a gift. Everything is designed to make the event safe and secure.

Tus Mejores Fiestas: The sweets will come protected in individual packages to avoid contact and potential transmissions. The cakes will depend on personal preferences and will be divided between those who want to see something pretty but not edible and those who favour tradition.

Pastel Chic: Cakes as usual – cupcakes, cake popsicles, cake pops, brownies, cookies and mini posters – all personalised.

8. Will we continue celebrating this year and next year with masks, social distancing and hand sanitiser?

9. What’s the most important challenge facing children’s parties that are yet to come?

Tábatha Pastelería: We want to continue offering originality, a good service, and continue being adaptable to any situation. Our aim is that people continue to live and celebrate occasions so we adapt our services to each client.

Zumo Animaciones: Adapting day by day to the needs and Covid guidelines. Nowadays we’re having to constantly improvise. The rules change, the number of guests, the number of outdoor or indoor celebrations. Our biggest challenge is to adapt to every new situation and make sure that, despite the restrictions at any given moment, people enjoy themselves and let themselves go. We want to create such special moments that people don’t even realise that there have been restrictions. We want every party to be unique and unbeatable.

Tus Mejores Fiestas: To reach as many people as possible and do all we can to make sure people can celebrate special occasions.

Pastel Chic: To always fulfill the client’s wishes.

10. What would you say to parents who are deliberating over whether to have a party for their little ones or not?

Tábatha Pastelería: That we only live once and you have to celebrate life. The excitement of a child or adult doesn’t change, we love celebrating an important date and not letting it go unnoticed, because life is full of memories and the best memories are made when we celebrate with other people.

Zumo Animaciones: I would tell them that after all this time and all the stress that kids have undergone due to Covid, they deserve a party where they can celebrate and enjoy themselves with their friends and family. There are lots of ways to organise them, always in a safe manner and respecting the guidelines. We can create a completely unique occasion and give your children an experience that they won’t forget.

Tus Mejores Fiestas: I’d tell them that you have to celebrate no matter what. If you don’t you might regret it because these times with your little ones will never come back. Whether it’s something very intimate or small, you can’t miss this opportunity. Today we’re here, tomorrow we have no idea what will happen.

Pastel Chic: In our bakery, we always respect the Covid-19 safety guidelines. You have to celebrate your children’s birthdays, if not with a lot of grandiose, at least with your family and closest friends.
