Already surprised by the title? Well, you’ll be even more surprised when you see what Claudia and Helder’s wedding in Formentera was like. These Barcelona residents, born in Portugal, wanted to get married and do it in Formentera.
Why? Because of the sunsets, the vibrant blue of the sea in the background, the unbeatable warm temperatures on the island and to celebrate the reception in one of the best restaurants overlooking the sea.
Every year more couples decide to get married on the island of Formentera, and among these couples were Claudia and Helder, who said “I do” in an intimate way with their closest loved ones in the paradise that is the Mediterranean waters.
A tradition of Formentera is to arrive at the wedding in a Mehari, and the bride and groom couldn’t go without this typical white vehicle! Pure Balearic essence!
So…fasten your seatbelts as we start to tell you all of the details!
An old mill as the setting
Yes, this was the chosen venue, an old mill belonging to the old salt industry of Formentera and renovated in detail to offer a privileged setting for your wedding: the Es Molí de Sal Restaurant, on the Illetas beach and the Es Cavall d’En Borràs beach.
This place is surrounded by nature, between land and sea with one of the best menus on the island, since it offers the most typical dishes of Formentera with an authentic Mediterranean stamp, nonetheless, always accompanied by a wide variety of great quality wines.
Known internationally for its service, quality and its clients, Es Molí de Sal has received many celebrities thanks to the unique views of the beach and of the Port of La Savina.
It also has an atmosphere and landscapes that allowed Claudia and Helder to enjoy one of the best sunsets in Formentera at their wedding, with the island of Es Vedrá cutting the horizon in the background.

With romantic flowers and unique plants
Despite the fact that the bride’s bouquet was somewhat traditional due to being made up of white and somewhat pinkish roses, what stood out were the pampas grass, which also filled the bouquet, giving a touch of distinction and originality to the wedding.
With rugs, cushions and a lot of colour
This is how the altar was decorated, laid out on the rocks and facing the sea, it consisted of a large circle of pampas grass located in front of the wooden port.
As seats, a lot of pouffes and cushions were placed, and as a path to the altar reddish, orange and white coloured rugs were laid, very bohemian!
Vases of water with fruit were also placed to refresh the guests during the ceremony. Delicious!
Rustic chic style
The seating plan was placed on old cart with embroidered macramés, vases with candles, flowers and pampas grass.
On the other hand, the reception consisted of long wooden tables and chairs with a white cloth upholstery, and three mint green and white plates with bronze cutlery, centrepieces with candles, candelabra and scattered pink flowers were laid on the tablecloth.
The looks, in line with the sea, the sand and the freshness of the venue
The bride and groom, dressed in Prada
A very emotional moment was when the bride and her friends began the preparations. All of them, dressed in their blue lace pyjamas, helped the bride put on her beautiful dress.
The design, in a nude shade that mirrored skin tone, was completely covered in white floral embroidery, and had a pretty train at the back that left her entire back open.
For footwear, she opted for some golden sandals from the luxury brand Prada, and on the sole the engraved initials of the bride and groom could be seen.
As for her hair, Claudia wore a full updo look with a plait that she adorned with a headdress of flowers and leaves in white and pink shades.
On the other hand, the groom opted for a greyish blue suit jacket, a navy-blue Prada tie which he placed over a white shirt and a white rose brooch.
However, what stood out were the shoes, also from Prada, made of mouliné knit and twill with a classic line that was updated with the particular geometric pattern of the upper part. The rubber sole of the shoe with the contrasting logo defined its contemporary design.
The bridesmaids, romantic and simple
The bridesmaids opted for light pink long dresses with sweetheart necklines, with a slit up the leg. They also carried a small bouquet of white and pinkish roses to complement their look.
The pages and flower girls were also there
They also were at this Balearic wedding, the girls dressed in off-white shade dresses and the boys dressed in Bermuda shorts with a white shirt.
Romanticism and symbolism in its purest form
And this is because, instead of the wedding coins, the bride and grooms exchanged handfuls of sand and their hands were joined with ropes and daisies.
When leaving the ceremony, instead of the traditional rice, the bride and groom were covered in a lot of fuchsia rose petals. How romantic!
