Ibiza is one of those places known worldwide for its partying and clubbing, but behind that distorted image of the island lies the other side, its biodiversity and its history, the importance of which has earned it the distinction of being part of UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. So no, it’s not just for partying.
During your stay you can delve into the depths of the Can Marçà cave, discover the first inhabitants of the island in the Phoenician settlement of Sa Caleta, enjoy the views from the Savinar Tower, go on a hiking route through the Ses Salines Natural Park, walk up through the town of Eivissa to visit the Cathedral of the Virgen de las Nieves, see the oldest lighthouse on the island, the Botafoc lighthouse, go to the necropolis, visit the walled enclosure and the Dalias market to soak up the hippie culture of the island.
Are two days in Ibiza enough time?
Yes, although we recommend spending at least 6 or 7 days to enjoy the island in all its grandeur, with two non-stop days you can have a first contact with the island, although you’ll have to come back to visit Formentera for a day.
Ibiza is tiny, but it hides a lot of beautiful places to discover, and for this it is best to rent a car or motorbike to be able to do it in the shortest time possible. In two days you can wander around Ibiza’s old town and explore the island’s most famous beaches.
Which part of Ibiza is the most beautiful?
Portinatx, located on the north coast, is one of the most beautiful areas of Ibiza. The north of the island stands out for its natural beauty, its beautiful landscapes, and its coves which are the most charming. Portinatx is a great option to stay in Ibiza if you want to get to know this part of the island.
It has a small population and it has three small beaches. In them (s’Arenal Gros, S’Arenal Petit, and Playa Porto) you can enjoy crystal clear waters and a super-relaxed atmosphere, ideal for relaxing.
It is one of the favourite areas for couples, but also for families and people looking for a more intimate, relaxed atmosphere, far away from the drunken tourism found in other parts of the island.
When is the best month to visit Ibiza?
The best time to travel to Ibiza is in spring, summer and the first weeks of autumn. The days are long, the temperatures are warm and you can enjoy the best of Ibiza: its beaches and coves with crystal-clear waters. As you can imagine, summer in the Balearics is a paradise.
July and August are the high season months and the months when most tourists arrive on the island. Therefore, in our opinion, the best months to travel to Ibiza are May, June, September and the beginning of October.
What to know before going to Ibiza?
If this is going to be your first time in Ibiza, you need to be clear about what kind of holiday you want to spend on the island: a quiet holiday, visiting beaches, restaurants, having a drink at night… or partying madly every night while you sleep during the day. Or, of course, combine both options. It’s a mistake for many newcomers to Ibiza to choose the wrong area to stay in.
We recommend that you consider renting a car (or a motorbike) to really enjoy the essence of Ibiza: the best beaches and the most beautiful villages have no bus stops (or very infrequent ones). There is no railway or metro in Ibiza. The only train is the tourist train, which runs through various parts of the northern half of the island.
If this is your first time in Ibiza, our advice is not to try to see too many beaches in a few days. If you still have a few beaches and coves to see, you have an excuse to come back next year. The important thing is to be able to enjoy the places you visit, calmly and quietly, Ibizan style.
There are many who, despite coming to Ibiza for a couple of days, make sure to visit the island of Formentera. This island is just over half an hour from Ibiza and can be visited and enjoyed in just one day if you wish, just 10 kilometres from Ibiza!
Which is better Ibiza or Mallorca?
To each their own… colours! We couldn’t choose, for example Mallorca is much bigger and you can find mountain areas that you won’t find in Ibiza. The same goes for the cultural offer: it is much wider in Mallorca.
But the best thing about the island of Ibiza is its small size, where you will have absolutely no trouble getting around and going from cove to cove enjoying the sea. Although this island is somewhat more expensive, it has a wider range of leisure activities than Mallorca.
However, on both islands you will find beautiful beaches and coves, some of the most beautiful in Spain!
