In spite of the complicated times we are living in due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in Spain we have the good fortune of having many places we can go to and relax. Mallorca is the perfect place to disconnect from daily life and enjoy the weather, landscape and tourist excursions. For this reason, Mallorca is open and ready to receive you, everyone there is working every day to be able to offer the most secure stay possible, establishing the necessary precautions recommended by the health authorities.
Now let’s look at the current established measures in Mallorca and all the information about them, but remember to always confirm this information as there are always specifications, changes and updates.
Important information and measures in effect
Currently the island is at a Level 2 risk level, this means the following:
Masks
The use of masks is OBLIGATORY: one must use them from the age of 6 years old up in public, in open air spaces, and in closed public spaces. The mask must cover the mouth and nose.
One can remove their mask:
– In open air outside of crowds, on beaches and at swimming pools, the crowd must always allow for distance between others and not involve interactions with other households.
– During the practice of water sports.
– During the use of wind instruments.
– At the moment of eating and drinking.
Restrictions of daily movement
It is currently not permitted to travel at night on the island of Mallorca between the hours of 23:00 to 06:00, except in cases of emergency and established need.
Limitations on mobility
There are currently no perimeter restrictions on the island, which means that there is freedom of movement between communities, although one recommends reducing the number of entrances and exits between regions.
Restrictions on groups of people
– Groups of a maximum of 6 people are allowed
– In bars, cafes and restaurants, the limit is 4 people per table.
– In private meetings, there can only be a maximum of 6 people, with a maximum of 2 households.
Tobacco and similars
Smoking is only permitted when one can guarantee a distance of 2 metres, and when the person is not moving.
Smoking is prohibited on the terraces of bars, cafes and restaurants.
Safe distance
Whenever possible, one should maintain a safe distance of a minimum of 1.5m from others. The social distance doesn’t exclude the use of other physical protections measures, such as the use of masks.
Limited seating
Seating capacity has been limited in venues, in each case you will be able to find capacity indicated on the maximum permitted. These capacities will change as the pandemic evolves.
Hand gel dispensers
In shops and establishments there are hand gel dispensers for public use. However, we recommend that you always bring your own hand gel to guarantee a constant state of cleanliness.
Online transactions, advance bookings and online payments
With the objective being avoiding crowds and minimising physical contact, whenever possible it’s always advisable to make bookings online, reserve ahead of time and pay in advance and by contactless methods.
To be able to leave this situation as soon as possible, remember these 3 basic principles: Wash your hands, use your mask, maintain social distance and choose ventilated spaces.
Entry requirements
The most important and first aspect to consider is that if in the last 14 days you have presented symptoms of COVID-19 or you have tested positive for COVID-19, you cannot travel.
If you are going to travel to Mallorca, one should know that entering Spain is compulsory:
International travellers
– Fill out the Health Control Form found at: spth.gob.es, or through the mobile app SPTH (Spain Travel Health), no more than 48 HOURS prior to your arrival.
– Once sent, you will receive a QR code that you must show on arrival.
PCR or TMA
All passengers must have a PCR or TMA test for COVID-19 with a negative test result (excluding children under 6 years old) carried out 72 hours before arrival in Spain.
In the case of not being able to present a negative test result, one may face a fine and will have to carry out the test in the airport.
Restricted flights
Incoming flights from Brazil and South Africa have been suspended, except for those with citizenship or residency in Spain.
Quarantine
Passengers coming from Brazil, South Africa, Botswana, Comoros, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Peru, India and Colombia, are required to undertake a 10 day quarantine upon arrival, they must stay in house or their accommodation. This period can be finished earlier, if on the seventh they present a negative test result.

National Passengers
One must fill out the Health Control Form, as well as being able to present a negative PCR or TMA test, taken at the point of origin no more than 72 hours before arriving in Mallorca (apart from children under 6 years old).
Movement between islands
For inter-island travel, it isn’t necessary to provide a diagnostic test with a negative COVID-19 result.
Transport
Public transport
Public transport on the island is running completely normally, beyond the public hygiene measures which are rigorously followed.
Taxi
The fleet of taxis on the island are running as usual, following hygiene measures. It is important to follow the instructions of the driver and always, when possible, pay via contactless method.
Hiring cars
Mallorca has a great selection of vehicle hire that is operative and ideal for moving around the island.
Measures to reduce risks in cars have also been adopted: Clean and disinfection of the whole car before service, laminated vehicle documentation, air conditioning/ventilation of the car at the end of service and specified information about the established measures.
Tourist accommodation
The island has an array of lodgings for tourists. From huge hotels to small holiday lets. They are all obliged to adopt COVID-19 prevention methods and to adapt its infrastructure on an ongoing basis, in accordance with the established health guidelines, in order to guarantee that their clients can enjoy a safe stay.
Some of the introduced measures are:
– Providing more space in common areas
– Continuous disinfection in bedrooms and other areas in the establishment
– Hand gel dispensers distributed in different areas
– Limitation and controls of capacity
– Access in turns to spaces, management and services online
Restaurants, cafes and bars
The establishments have been adapted to the established preventive measures which include, among others:
– Disinfection of common spaces, tables and chairs to protect users.
– The regulation of the capacity and occupation of the tables.
– Indoor CO2 meters.
At the moment:
– It cannot be consumed inside the establishments.
– They can sit at the same table up to a maximum of 4 people (except cohabitants).
– The closing time is established at 10:30 p.m. maximum.
– Take away food until 23:00.
– Home service until 00:00 hours.
Celebrations Weddings and similar
Even in the worst of times, there is always a reason to celebrate. Although it’s difficult to plan events right now, there can always be something to celebrate.
It is recommended to postpone the celebrations. However, ceremonies are allowed with capacity limitations (30%):
– Maximum 15 people indoors.
– Maximum 30 people in outdoor spaces.
MICE events
Congresses, seminars, business meetings or similar, must comply with the sanitary-hygienic prevention measures established by the sanitary authorities, as well as the companies that provide their services to the events. They can continue to be held following the established limitations and measures.
Currently the capacity is limited to 50 people indoors.
