5 Reasons to Have a Professional Photographer at Your Proposal

Marriage proposal is one of the brightest events in your life, so we recommend that you contract a photographer to keep you warm pictures of this moment.

Your proposal is one of the most memorable events of your whole life. But it comes and goes in an instant! Of course, you will remember it forever, but it is essential that you hire a proposal photographer to ensure that you can capture the memories of the beautiful moment.

Because of the spontaneity of proposal photos and videos, they produce beautifully candid moments between you and your partner. The camera captures all the emotions of the moment that passes by so quickly.

Here are the reasons you cannot miss out on a proposal photographer.

Why do I need a Proposal Photographer?

Of course, a professional photographer and videographer costs money, but we think it’s absolutely worth it. Here’s why…

1. Memories (Of course!)

As we have said, your proposal will fly by, and the next thing you know you will be at the altar. Truthfully, this part of your life will come and go so quickly that all you will remember is that you (or your partner) said yes! A photographer and videographer can capture every detail of your proposal: the romance, the laughter, and the mishaps! You will be able to look back and enjoy the photos of you and your partner in such a happy moment.

The main reason why you need a photographer is to get the perfect snap of your partner when you ask them to spend the rest of your lives together: the emotions and the joy. It will be invaluable!

Importantly, you can share these photos with your family, friends and even perhaps your own kids one day!

2. You will use the photos hundreds of times

On Instagram, Facebook, invites and thank you’s, there will be countless events where your professional proposal photos will come in handy. Although you could always use your first photo together from 2009 at college shot with your old flip phone, we can all agree that the quality of a professional shoot is unmatched to photos back then. Having a whole album of photos to hand for posts, cards and letters will also mean that you will never have to repeat a picture!

You and your partner will need photos for your social media, wedding website, save the dates, and to display in your home. It’s also common to display a framed photo of the proposal at the wedding.

3. To show off your gorgeous ring

Without a doubt, we can tell you that everyone will be dying to see that ring! The photographer can get an amazing shot of the ring, taking into account the best lighting, focus, background and technical details so that you can enjoy the moment. All you will have to worry about is showing off the photos to everyone.

4. So all your loved ones can feel part of your special moment

Watching your partner get down on one knee and then spotting your mum peering in from a distance is probably not what you have envisioned for your proposal. That’s why having a huge selection of proposal photos can make her feel like she was there… without actually being there! And as for all the guests who wish they were there, your grandma, your childhood friend, they can all see the happiest moment of your life captured on camera. So when you get asked about your proposal for the 1000th time, you can use your photos to bring the moment to life for them.

5. So that you get used to the camera

During the engagement and wedding season of your life, you will need to get used to the camera being around you 24/7. Engagement photos, bachelor and bachelorette parties, formal dinners, the wedding photos and videos, the list goes on! To avoid any awkward smiles, a professional proposal photographer can help you to get used to the process of having photographs taken of your events so that you get the best possible results in your wedding photos. Don’t forget, if you love the pictures from your proposal, you can always hire the photographer for your big day! And, if after looking at the proposal pics, you want a different style for your wedding photos and video, you have realized this with plenty of time to start searching for someone new! You can’t lose!

Planning in advance

It is important to plan ahead. Once you have decided when you are going to propose, we recommend that you start to search for a photographer. Leaving only 1-2 weeks prior to the moment is often too late! Professional photographers are super busy!

The post-lockdown wedding season of 2022-23 has been crazy so far! The more time you leave, the more options there will be. We understand that proposals can be very spur of the moment, so even if you are short of time, reach out to someone and book a photographer as soon as you can!

Searching online

You can search through wedding vendor sites as most wedding photographers are used to shooting proposals too. Make sure to read reviews and look at sample work of theirs. You can always reach out and ask a photographer for some examples of their work.

Checking everything

It is very important to ask about pricing and what it includes before booking a photographer. You can ask about what type of camera they use, the equipment they will bring and their experience with the type of setting that you will propose in. Let them know about the time of day, the possible area and anyone else that will be there. Make sure they can fulfill your dream proposal pictures.

You should enquire about the format that you will receive your photos in: an online gallery? printed? good quality? We would assume that most photographers will have a standard format to send photos in but it is always important to check.

Before signing anything, make sure you read their contract!

Start planning with your photographer

If you’re stuck for ideas, who better to ask than the person who has attended hundreds of proposals… the photographer! They could offer up ideas for locations, timings and any extra little details that can help the proposal run smoothly. Don’t hesitate to check out our blog for inspiration!

A popular type of proposal these days is to plan a couple photo shoot that turns into a proposal. This way, you and your partner are wearing your best outfits already!
