You have already dealt with the theme, the decoration, the invitations, the playlist with all the songs you’re going to play, the gifts for the guests… everything is ready. But… there is something missing. What is it? The entry protocol to the ceremony! This is a topic which might make you ask yourself a few questions.

Will you make your entrance together? Or first one of you and then the other? Who will come in first? And will you come in to the arm of your mother or father? Don’t let yourself be overwhelmed by anxiety! Because if there is a great advantage to gay weddings, it is that you’re free to walk to the altar as you want, you can set up your own norms and implant your own desires and tastes for the most special day of your life.

The legalization of gay weddings in Spain took place on July 2nd 2005, therefore, since it is a new recent celebration, you won’t have to follow any strict protocol like in traditional weddings for example.

You could also go for a protocol fully designed by yourself and personalized according to your tastes, in order to be able to come in both at the same time, separately, to the arm of someone or on your own, or one after the other.

In some cases, the oldest member of the couple walks first towards the altar and waits for the youngest. But have you thought about creating two parallel aisles? This would be a way to make your entrance together, but separately. Who said you couldn’t be original?

In other cases, the couple decides to apply the heterosexual wedding traditional protocol, the first member of the couple making their entry to the arms of their mother or father and the second one to the arm of their own father or mother.

But, what if you don’t want to make your entrance to the arm of your father or mother? Well, that is not a problem! You can walk towards the altar to the arm your friend, brother, uncle…You will be the ones to choose, because whatever you want, it is possible. This way, you will have a 100% unique and custom-made wedding!

It also quite usual in gay ceremonies to see the two members of the couple come together and get ready together, even though many couples prefer doing it without their partner in order not to ruin the surprise feeling at the altar.

As for the outfit protocol, it follows what we have mentioned before: do whatever you want! Any style that adapts to the union will be alright, since it is not the same to get married on the beach or in a castle. Whatever the dress or the suit is, the most important is that it fits the environment, stays faithful to your own style, is comfortable and makes you feel yourself on your special day.

Brides with trousers, a wedding dress, grooms with printed-suits or couples with matching outfits, let your imagination run wild! In the end, you will have the last word!

Now that you know all the options to make your entrance at the ceremony, which one will you choose? Whatever it is, it will make you celebrate love in all its glory, surrounded by the people you love the most. Love always wins!
