Its incomparable Mediterranean light, the desirable climate, the numerous hours of sunshine and the settings and parts of the sea and mountains that make up the shorelines of Sant Antoni and La Nau, making Xabia an idyllic place for the couple of the wedding, and also for their families and friends, who take advantage of the occasion to get to know one of the most prized local towns of the Costa Blanca!
If you dream of a wedding between orange trees and the mar, this destination is for you, and in this article we will tell you why you should celebrate your wedding in this town. You will not regret it!
Take note!
The beaches and coves of Jávea, a paradisiacal setting
Getting married on the beach, coves or in restaurants situated on the front line of Xabia’s coast has become a very important attraction for many couples that wish to get married.
Although the majority of these weddings take place in September and October when the tourists of summer leave the area, there are many couples that also opt to say “I do” to each other during the summer months.
You will not know whether to choose between the quality of crystal waters or the white sand of places such as Cala Granadella, Cala del Portitxol, Playa El Arenal, Cala Blanca, Cala del Moraig or Playa de la Grava, amongst many others.
Unique venues (that are not by the sea) to say “I do” to each other
Although the majority of couples choose places located on the front line of the coast, each time there are more couples that choose another setting that is not by the sea, because in Jávea there are not just beaches!
There are also very popular viewpoints, rural inns, country houses, wedding halls, private villas and even the small castle converted into a venue for events, the Castell de Barxell.
You can’t miss Finca La Torreta, Casa Benigalip, Casa Paulino or Finca Villa Vera. Your wedding in Jávea will be something to talk about.
The courthouse in Jávea is free
It is what you think! The town councillor Juan Ortolá, asked at the plenary session of the City Council about the fee charged by the council to perform weddings outside municipal buildings. To this question, the councilman of finance, Antonio Miragall, replied that “all civil ceremonies have to be within the municipal premises, if they are made outside, from this summer, the City Council charges a fee that goes to the municipal coffers, but no councillor and including the mayor collect for celebrating a civil wedding.” But if a couple wants to get married in the courthouse, this celebration is totally free.
Two churches in the town
Jávea has two churches in its town, these are the Iglesia San Bartolomé and the Virgen del Loreto, and they practically go hand in hand.
The archbishopric sets a guideline fee schedule with a tax of approximately 200 euros, that includes the cleaning of the church, the lights, the accompaniment of the couple for the wedding and the days of preparation beforehand.
One of a kind food for your wedding banquet
Jávea has numerous dishes where you can taste international cuisine and local gastronomy.
Given that it is a coastal town, rice and seafood are the protagonists of their gastronomy. From the traditional Alicante paella to baked rice or “a banda”. As far as rice dishes are concerned, or from the typical marinera al suc roig, without forgetting the varied fish barbecues.
We are sure that your guests will not expect to taste a typical paella at your wedding, “arros al forn”, (baked rice), or “arros amb fesols i naps” (rice with beans and turnips)!
Within the elaborate dishes that are based on fish and seafood stands out: “el cruet de peix” (fish stew) and the fritura (fried fish), although “los coques” cakes are also traditional; with bell pepper and tomato, onion, raisins, oil and salt, as well as “all i oli” which accompanies many dishes and consists of garlic and olive oil. Ignore what Victoria Beckham says about Spain’s garlic!
Wine from the countryside of Jávea can be tasted amongst typical drinks, the misteleta (sweet wine), lemonades and the horchata (tigernut soda), which is why your guests will fill their palates with exquisiteness.
A desirable climate
