How Saving Money On Your Wedding Venue?

We know that the only thing better than finding the perfect wedding venue is getting it at a great price!

We know that the only thing better than finding the perfect wedding venue is getting it at a great price! We wanted to share some of our top tips with you for keeping those budget-breaking costs down when it comes to saying ‘I do’ to a venue.

1. Tie the knot on a weekday or Sunday

Saturday is the most popular day of the week for weddings because it is the day that most people have time to attend. Friday evening receptions require people to rush to the event after work and Sunday weddings are tough to make if people need to travel from out of town. Monday through Thursday usually aren’t considered by many couples because they think that asking their guests to take time off work to attend their wedding is too much to ask. This means that ceremony and reception venues, as well as most other vendors, will have less expensive rates on weekdays and Sundays.

2. Avoid peak season

If you are planning a wedding between May and October, you can expect venue to charge more and to be booked quickly. February and December are also in-demand months to tie the knot thanks to Valentine’s Day and Christmas. Therefore, the cheapest months for your wedding would be January, March, April and November. During these months, venues are typically more available and less expensive.

3. Choose a venue that looks great as it is

You can save a small fortune if you pick a venue that you don’t have to decorate much. There are plenty of beautiful barns and stylish country houses out there so let their amazing décor do the talking!

4. Swap out costly flowers

Did you know peonies can be five times more expensive than roses?

5. Keep the numbers down

One of the biggest costs involved in hiring a venue is for the wedding breakfast and by being a bit more selective with your guest list, you can stand to make a substantial saving.

6. Only 1 wedding venue

Some weddings could have as many as 3 separate venues: one for the ceremony, one for wedding photos, and another for the wedding reception. Keep it simple by keeping the venues close together or consider a facility with separate space for a ceremony and reception, such as a church. This will not only save you money, as most community centers and churches have one flat fee for use of the facility, but it will also save you time and hassle, as you and your wedding party won’t have to worry about running back and forth between two or more separate wedding venues.

7. Don’t be afraid to DIY

The cost of decorating your venue can easily spiral out of control so keep the prices down by getting creative and doing it yourself. It might take a bit of time but that feeling of satisfaction after you’ve put the effort in is definitely worth it.
