Do you know all the things that the page boys will have to do at your wedding? What clothes they have to wear? How many you should choose? Where they will sit during the ceremony?
If you have also asked yourself these questions, you are in the right place to find the answers, and give the youngest members of the family the role that they deserve!
Generally, the page boys usually are children, or even sometimes pets, between 4 and 12 years of age, since this is the age at which they behave like children whilst still being able to carry out their duties.
Right now, we are going to give all the answers to your questions, so that you know everything when it comes to having page boys at your wedding.
What is the page boys’ role?
Their main job is to accompany the bride as she walks down the aisle, as well as lead the way for the newlyweds as they leave the ceremony. They also need to carry the essential objects for the ceremony such as the rings, wedding coins, gifts, etc.
They are like the bride and groom’s magic elves!
How many children are recommended?
As a minimum, two page boys are advised, whilst the maximum is considered to be no more than six. It is important to remember that having too many children could impede the smooth running of the ceremony as they could start fidgeting and start to play, which could disrupt the wedding.
But this is only a guide! It is up to the married couple to decide upon the number of page boys they want to have with them on their big day.
Where will the page boys be standing on the wedding day?
These little ones will be indispensable for the marriage procession, and so they have to be placed in full view, at the front of the church, near to the bride and groom.
This ensures that they are at hand throughout the ceremony, mainly when the time comes to deliver the rings.
What is the best thing for the little ones to wear?
As a general rule, the bride and groom are the ones who choose the page boys’ outfits, given that no one knows the wedding theme, style and atmosphere better than them.
The outfits must match the theme and colour scheme of the wedding, although the trend seems to be for them to wear pastel colours. Of course, they must always be comfortable so that they can have the most fun, and so they should be made of materials such as cotton, silk or linen.
To embellish them, you could always add bows, sashes, head bands, waistcoats, bowties, flower crowns… All the details that match the ceremony! Do you already know about the trends for wedding ceremonies in 2020?
As a recommendation, keep them under control at all times!
Children will not stop being children, and so at any time they could get up, run around, cause mischief or start to cry right in the middle of the ceremony.
Therefore, the best thing to do would be to keep an adult close, (preferably one of their parents) so that they can be responsible for any problems that the children can cause.
Did you know that the page boys can also be pets?
Why not? If you have any animals, don’t hesitate to give them a role in your wedding, with a little sign, a bow tie, or even a basket carrying the rings in their mouths! Original, no?
At Perfect Venue we are excited to organise your wedding with these mischievous little ones that add a touch of humour, joy and originality!
