1. How did the idea for Fortes Wedding Videos come about, and what inspired you to focus on being a wedding videographer with a cinematic style?
Fortes Wedding Videos was born out of a passion for telling authentic and emotional stories. After completing a Master’s in Directing and Producing TV Series, I left fiction behind as I started valuing more the unique and magical moments that reality offers during a special day, where the connection between people is so palpable and genuine. These are occasions where there’s a great story to be told.
The cinematic style goes far beyond simple documentary recording. My goal is to create pieces that not only capture the day but also transport the couple and their families back to those moments as if they were watching a movie where they are the protagonists. Each wedding has its own narrative, and I love reflecting that unique and memorable essence.
2. What is your process for preparing a wedding video before the event?
Preparation is key to ensuring that the video faithfully reflects the couple’s vision. I begin with an initial meeting (in person or via video call) where I listen to their expectations, the style they’re looking for, and the moments and details they consider important. I also review the wedding day’s schedule with them or their wedding planner to understand the timings and key locations. From there, I create a visual script that includes the main shots and some spontaneous details that I want to capture. It’s all about making sure everything flows smoothly.
3. How do you communicate with couples, especially those who are more shy or uncomfortable in front of the camera, to ensure everything runs smoothly?
The most important thing is to create a relaxed and natural atmosphere so the couple feels comfortable being themselves. I always try to get to know them well before the wedding day to understand what makes them feel secure and what type of interaction they prefer. During the filming, I give minimal direction, very lightly, and try to capture authentic moments without forcing any situation — in other words, without “posing” or “acting.” It’s all about letting them be themselves.
Sometimes, the most beautiful and authentic moments happen when couples forget they’re being filmed, and that’s when I capture their true essence.
With shyer couples, I use discreet, non-invasive techniques and remind them that the most important thing is to enjoy the moment, which will ultimately be reflected in the video. I encourage them to forget about the cameras and focus on having a great time.
4. What is your signature style? What unique elements define your work and make you stand out in the world of videography?
My signature style is cinematic, with a focus on capturing key, authentic, and emotional moments through a chronological visual narrative. I strive to capture the essence of the couple and the details that make their day special, whether it’s a smile, a glance, or a tear of joy. I use carefully composed shots to give each video a unique aesthetic, as if it were a movie.
Visually, I like to blend a clean and elegant aesthetic with a natural flow to the narrative. I use light and composition to give each shot an artistic touch, but always with the goal of telling the story exactly as it happened, without embellishment.
I also pay close attention to the editing process, working to find a rhythm that connects with viewers on both a visual and emotional level. I believe that my dedication to personalizing each video is what truly sets me apart.
5. Why is it important to have more than one wedding videographer with a cinematic style for the event coverage?
Having two videographers is essential for capturing all the angles and details happening during such an important day. While one of us focuses on the main moments, such as the ceremony or the vows, the other can capture the reactions of the guests or smaller details that add depth to the video. It also allows us to shoot from different perspectives, enriching the final edit and bringing more dynamism. With more than one wedding videographer with a cinematic style, we can ensure that no important moment is missed.
6. How do you ensure that spontaneous and unexpected moments are captured in the video?
To capture spontaneous moments, we remain alert and ready at all times, even when it seems like nothing significant is happening. Often, the most genuine moments occur between the big events: an unexpected laugh, a glance of complicity, or a tender gesture between the couple or their loved ones. We move discreetly, always blending into the background, and keep our cameras ready to record those unplanned moments that make the video truly special and authentic.
7. Can you tell us more about the “videocall” service you offer during the parties?
The “videocall” is fantastic for livening up the party as an alternative or complement to traditional photo booths. The concept is all about jumping, dancing, and goofing around in front of the camera, wearing wigs, masks, and accessories, and even using a bubble machine—then seeing yourself instantly on a screen in super slow-motion. It always ends up being a favorite moment for guests during the party. When you book the videocall, we also offer the option to record guest messages during the celebration, like a confession booth, and we edit a video that mixes both things! The length of that video depends on how much material was recorded.
8. What impact has the installation of super slow-motion cameras had on the celebrations?
Whenever we set it up, it becomes a central part of the party for a while.
If there are children at the celebration, it’s nearly impossible to stop them from trying out different dances and poses again and again.
I remember one time when the music stopped for quite a while, but thanks to the videocall and confession booth, everyone kept the party going and had a great time, as if nothing had happened.
9. As a wedding videographer with a cinematic style, what do couples ask for the most these days? What are the most popular trends? Has anything become especially requested recently?
These days, couples are looking for videos that are authentic and tell their story in an intimate way. There’s been a huge demand for a blend of cinematic and documentary styles, where speeches or vows are combined with visuals from the event to give a personal and emotional touch.
“Highlight reels” have also become incredibly popular—short videos that capture the best moments of the day in just one minute, perfect for sharing on social media. Another big trend is the use of drones, as they add a unique dynamic to the final edit.
How do you handle space restrictions and filming regulations in specific venues?
I always research the regulations of the venue where the wedding will take place and communicate with the event coordinators to ensure we are following all the rules. If there are space limitations or specific rules, we adapt by using more compact and discreet equipment. Additionally, I make sure to have enough flexibility in my planning to modify our approach if needed. The key is to be proactive and prepared for any situation, always respecting the regulations without compromising the quality of the video.
How do you manage the video editing process and how long does it take to deliver the final product?
As a wedding videographer with a cinematic style, editing is a process I treat with great care, as it’s where the story of the wedding is truly shaped. I start by reviewing all the footage and selecting the most significant shots. Then, I work on the edit, creating a smooth and emotional narrative that reflects the style and key moments of the event. The delivery time can vary depending on the project’s complexity, but through Perfect Venue, we commit to delivering the results within just 20 days of intense work, ensuring that every detail is meticulously crafted.
12. What memorable stories or moments have you captured that have personally impacted you?
Each wedding has its own special moment, but I particularly remember one wedding where, during the vows, the groom surprised the bride with a song he had written for her. The emotion on her face was indescribable, and capturing that intimate and genuine moment was incredibly powerful.
I also fondly remember a wedding where a grandfather, who could no longer walk, stood up with the help of his sons to accompany his granddaughter on the dance floor.
These moments, when emotions are so palpable, remind me why I love what I do. Being a witness to and documenting those moments fills me with satisfaction, knowing I’ve created a memory that will last for generations.
