Let’s go there!
In addition to “DIY” wedding planner, you also offer a consulting service. What’s good about this service for couples taking the step of getting married?
The consulting service is for couples who want to organize the wedding themselves and have questions or need help for a specific situation. Depending on when the couple is organizing the wedding, they may require one or more consulting services:
- Resolve doubts about the procedures for the ceremony, which suppliers should be hired and when, what should be taken into account when choosing the location for the ceremony and/or the invitation, etc.
- Give ideas to decorate one or more areas, such as centerpieces or specific corners, etc.
- Give ideas to create some DIY type object to decorate or give as a gift according to the style of the wedding.
- Give ideas to design the invitations, minutes or menu, seating plan, or other type of signage, either with shapes or drawings of the style or theme of the wedding.
- Look for artisan suppliers who customize different objects to decorate or who make some type of signage.
- Find suppliers for specific situations or to entertain guests: Beauty corner, glitter, flamenco dance group, video booth, crazy hour, etc.
What would you say is your essence as a “DIY” wedding planner? What is it about your weddings that makes them so special and different?
As a “DIY” wedding planner, I look for and find out what the bride and groom don’t know and that may apparently seem unimportant, what tastes the couple have in common and what each one wants to live one of their best days and be able to enjoy it together and with the rest of the guests. I do a very personalized, constant, meticulous and perfectionist job, looking for all possible options so that the wedding is as realistic as possible, capturing what the couple wants. I worry about everything, that it is a unique wedding and having the plans they make. missing, A, B, C, etc., for the wedding day and especially those things that the couple may be concerned about or that are extremely important.
I stand out in personalized decoration, mixing the traditional with something that is unique, with color and/or shapes of different materials, and that highlights something about the couple, I divide it into 4 groups, which can be mixed between them: colors, themes, elements or seasons of the year. I perform personalized weddings with different decorations made by artisans or DIY, without large machinery, designing and creating each object or element as unique and inimitable, no two are the same.
You strongly advocate DIY in the decoration of your weddings, why? Is it something that couples ask you for or that you propose?
Because it can be part of the main decoration of a wedding with a personalized style or theme, being able to create different objects of the same theme with different materials and creating them yourself, involves you much more in the wedding, makes you a participant from the moment you start devise the object that will later be used as a decorative element in any area: seats, centerpieces, place markers, welcome corners, guest book, candy bar, etc.
I propose it depending on the type of style or theme of the wedding and whenever I see the couple interested in small, very personalized details. Depending on the type of object, I may do it myself or if they want, give them the idea and do it themselves.
What do you like most about your job? What you most enjoy doing and/or creating.
What I like most is designing the style of the wedding based on the preferences of the couple, presenting them with an idea board that I make after analyzing the questionnaire I prepare to find out how they want the wedding.
I really enjoy devising and creating DIY objects that can be used at different moments of the wedding and also designing ideas with decorative elements.
On the other hand, I love all the planning and coordination with suppliers during the months leading up to the wedding.
Azul y Malva Wedding Planner
Nowadays there are many couples looking for a completely personalized wedding, out of the ordinary, atypical… Do you think it is a trend or something that is increasingly on the rise? How do you adapt to the needs, tastes, preferences, etc. each?
It is increasingly normal for couples to want a unique wedding that is not like others, since each person has different tastes and there are couples who want more or less decoration and even who want different suppliers to be present during the wedding to entertain and entertain the guests.
From the first day they contact me until days after the wedding, I am with them to help them with any questions or doubts they have. I am like a friend who they can ask, give opinions about the wedding, I adapt to their schedules, I look for suppliers. suitable for each couple, I accompany them to meetings with suppliers who have to visit in person or any other need. I complete a questionnaire to find out the wedding they want or I help them to identify what they want, thus knowing the style of the wedding, what suppliers are needed, organizing, planning and coordinating the wedding. I try to reassure them, removing the stress that couples usually experience in organizing the wedding.
Tell us about a wedding you have held that caused a sensation among the guests, that impressed the couple, and that was unforgettable and magical for everyone present.
A couple told me that they wanted a “non-wedding”, so many traditional moments of a wedding did not exist, to begin with they did not want to have the typical welcome to the wedding sign, nor the names of the bride and groom anywhere, the only thing It was the seating plan and waiters in which each card had a drawing and the name of a different soccer field, since it was the only sign that was needed to know where to seat the guests.
From the beginning, some of the things they did want was for the banquet menu to be buffet-style, something that is not common to see in Spain and what the couple wanted was for each guest to choose what to eat and thus all the guests They ate what they liked. They also wanted the dance to be a real party, so they chose a glitter bar, a 3D video booth, friends’ dances, and crazy hours organized by the couple and me, since I’m here until the end of the wedding, so anything you want As a bride and groom, I can help them with the organization or coordination with the suppliers until the wedding is over and they can just enjoy themselves.
They were clear that they wanted their decoration to be based on lights and green vegetation, so the green leaves were the protagonists and although it seems that it was a wedding with little decoration, it was quite the opposite. The exterior was full of green vegetation, the entrance to the cocktail party was decorated with an arch of green leaves and curtains of lights that formed a tunnel, which gave the area a special charm at dusk. Both the ceremony and the banquet took place in a wooden interior and were decorated with green leaves to represent that they were outside. At the ceremony, the hallway was decorated with green leaves and also the wall in the area where the bride and groom were located, and at the banquet the columns were surrounded by green leaves and small trees were used as centerpieces.
What are your future projects as “DIY” wedding planner? What is your priority and what are you focused on right now?
Help couples who need a “DIY” wedding planner to organize personalized urban weddings in Madrid and who do not have enough time to organize weddings from the beginning by designing the style of the wedding, searching for all the suppliers, organizing and coordinating with the suppliers on the day of the wedding and thus the couple can ask questions about the wedding, since I carry out many different tasks for several months and I facilitate the couple’s daily life, saving them time.
My priority is always the couple, transmitting to them my passion for what I do so that they feel comfortable with my work and find it easy to make the necessary decisions, so that they choose what they want, thinking about their tastes, with my advice offering the opportunity to personalize each moment and thus create special memories for the bride and groom and guests that make the wedding different from others, especially in the decoration or details.
As a “DIY” wedding planner I am focused on perfecting the services I offer, continually updating myself, meeting new suppliers, attending parades, fairs, events, researching new trends in both decoration and new ideas for entertainment and fun at different times.
