A love story that was born in Portugal
We love our neighbouring country! This couple fell in love in Portugal. Specifically, a year and a half ago, when the fiancé saw his girl and confessed his love to her at first sight, and that he couldn’t leave without getting to know her!
Although she was a little reluctant at first, after a few dates, they began to fall in love. And that was the moment in which the groom knew it was time to ask the big question.
Spain, the chosen destination to get down on one knee
For these French-Hebrews, Spain is the destination of romance and love. Neither Paris, nor Rome, but Madrid.
It is clear that Spain is one of the preferred destinations for couples to organise their proposal, and for the French, Madrid seems very romantic!
Did you know that, according to a survey by the Society of Market Studies and Opinion about Spain’s image to the rest of the world, 72% of French people said that “Spain is the country that they like the most”, and of course they do! Because in this country there isn’t a corner without charm.
Retiro Park, a dream for any couple
Retiro is one of the prettiest and largest parks in Madrid, and for this reason all couples love it! Because it also has very picturesque spots for a marriage proposal. It has an endless amount of nature that makes the photos seem like they were taken in a fairytale.
In the park, you can find different areas that are perfect for a proposal: balconies with views of the lake, Crystal Palace, the botanical gardens of la Rosaleda, fountains and bridges. And it was in fact a bridge where the fiancé got down on one knee.
The chosen area was a beautiful romantic wooden bridge that crossed a stream, and a violinist was witness to the moment.
The moment when she said “yes”
While the couple were walking through the park, and without the girlfriend expecting anything about what was about to happen, we made sure that everything was prepared for the big moment.
When the couple were walking across the wooden bridge, they were taken by surprise by a heart shape of rose petals on the bridge and two small chalkboards that asked the big question: “Do you want to marry me?”
The girlfriend, astonished, didn’t hesitate in going over to kiss him and giving him a decisive “YES!”.
The details… It wasn’t a ring!
When the fiancé got down on one knee, he didn’t take out a ring but a necklace, and when she said “yes”, he fastened the chain around her neck.
This is because Jewish people do not use rings when they propose, but it is custom to gift another piece of jewellery. However, the ring is essential to the wedding in the moment when the couple become husband and wife.
An interesting fact about Jewish weddings is that, at the wedding, the groom puts the ring on the right index finger of his bride during the ceremony. But afterwards, she moves the ring to her left ring finger.
Furthermore, it is very important to Jewish couples that the ring is smooth and plain gold, without precious gemstones or engravings. The simpler, the better. This is because the bride must be able to estimate the value of the ring by herself and extra adornments would make this difficult.
Stylish, elegant and comfortable
For such a memorable day, the fiancée wore a beige coat to match with a shirt of the same tone. The look was completed with a black skirt with tights and some leather boots.
To match with the style of his girlfriend, the fiancé wore a beige jacket with a white shirt and dark-coloured jeans.
