A wedding at el Castillo de Peralada is like a dream. This XIV century castle situated in Girona continues to preserve its two towers that stand tall on either side of the entrance of the castle, which Luca and Lolita will walk through as an engaged couple and leave as husband and wife.
It is the perfect choice if you, like our couple, wish to get married amongst nature in Alt Empordà, the Costa Brava or los Aiguamolls del Empordà, as well as enjoy the Catalan history, culture and architecture.
Say ‘I do’ in the church inside the castle
El Castillo de Peralada even has a church, la Iglesia del Carmen, a gothic temple for those who want to walk down the aisle to make a religious commitment.
The bride walked down the aisle with a bouquet of peonies, magnolias and curved green leaves with pink velvet bows, a simple floral design created by Xavi and Susana.
A library at your wedding is a charming extra
Take a look at the photos and videos that Anastasia and Sasha took of this venue full of renaissance sculptures, medieval paintings, wooden furniture, tapestries, altarpieces, ceramics and crystal pieces, alongside the 80,000 books, among which the gothic manuscripts, chronicles, codes and bibliographic treasures stand out.
This is exactly the space which the bride walked through, dressed by Jordi Anguera in a natural silk tulle dress, with chantilly, chenille and lace with mesh, and the groom, Luca, was dressed in a two-toned suit.
As well as the church and the library, the bride and groom also walked around the exterior of the castle, through the medieval courtyard and the gardens that were full of nature.

The castle’s gastronomy has been awarded a Michelin star
The castle’s restaurant is run by Xavier Sagristà and head waiter and wine steward Toni Gerez, who have created a menu with cuisine from El Ampurdán, the food capital of Catalonia.
Their dishes are known for their mix of the contemporary and the traditional, always using high quality local ingredients so that everybody can enjoy an authentic taste sensation.
You will be dying to try the tuna ravioli with vegetables, truffle mayonnaise and olive oil, tuna belly with a tomato confit, mash potato and pepper, rabbit loin with vermouth and lemon, and the three saffron, ginger and curry chocolates! Of course, you are licking your lips!
This delicious food is eaten at the look-out point of the castle, the room where your banquet can be celebrated with views of the castle’s towers, all on a table decorated with a large candelabra and adorned with white candles, green leaves and pink lilies, geometric candelabras and crystal jars.
The delights of el Castillo Peralada are found in their wines
As we have already mentioned, in the library you can find scrolls that prove that wine has been produced in this venue since the middle ages. This wine tradition has withstood the test of time and continues to adapt itself by incorporating the newest technology into its production.
How could our guests and married couple not try it? For example, the farmhouse grapes, the wine from the cellars, from the ‘cigonyes’ … There are plenty to choose from!
The fun never stops
The party continued into the early hours of the morning. This castle has everything! In its reception rooms, the cotton club, the guests could sing at the top of their lungs and dance until their legs fell off. Furthermore, there was a unique casino where fun and drinks were guaranteed!
