Elopements beneath windmills will give plenty to talk about, or if not wait and you will see! Because these structures are amazing and are already becoming one of the most popular places for couples to have a unique, intimate and original wedding.
Windmills have a lot of charm in Spain and, as Don Quijote said, the “giants” can form part of the scenery for your wedding or your proposal.
There’s a reason why these windmills are one of the 20 best places for an unforgettable proposal in Spain. And it’s not surprising, because together with a sunset, some manchego cheese and local wine, it becomes an unbeatable environment.
If you are curious about an elopement under windmills, don’t miss this article that tells you where the couple fled to get married in such an intimate and unique place.
Listen to these ideas!
But first… what is a windmill?
A windmill is a stone tower with doors and windows, covered by a cone roof and with huge blades that create wind energy to grind grain into flour, to pump water and to produce electricity. This is why, to collect the best force of wind, they are usually constructed at the top of hills close to towns and villages.
The dream of marrying amongst windmills
What better than saying “I do” in a place full of history and fantasy? Yes, in this place, as surely you already know, a famous nobleman fought against “giants” for his beautiful beloved Dulcinea.
And in these mountains dotted with “giants’ was the place that the couple chose to celebrate the beginning of their lives together, becoming husband and wife while the sunset coloured the white walls of the mills, and the wind could be heard dancing through the blades, accompanying them with their movement.
Flowers, a unique touch for the celebration
Betting on a red passion bouquet is a safe bet, so the bride opted for a bouquet that combined natural flowers such as red and white roses, accompanied by green eucalyptus.
A perfect combination for a classic, passionate bride that adores this special colour but wants to include a distinct touch. Furthermore, the stems were gathered together by a red velvet ribbon. Romantic and eye-catching!
The bouquet was a creation of Atelier de la Flor, where they always work with fresh flowers that, with a bit of basic care, can last up to 15 days, depending on the type of flowers and the time of year.
At Atelier de la Flor, they have a lot of experience decorating weddings and events and always manage to adapt to the taste of the couple and the style that they want their wedding to give off.
An idyllic bride
The bride wore, at first, a plain white dress with smooth fabric and an overlay on top covered in lace and see-through material. Along with this style, the seductive touch appeared at the back, as it was open and had a strip of lace that crossed the entire back.
For the second dress, she chose a skirt with a lot of voluminous tulle with a back bow and a plain top that was accompanied by different embroidered stones.
Both dresses were by Gisele, from La Unike Atelier, a business which never makes two of the same dress, because every bride is unique and they make specific designs for the customer. As the designer says, they create “dresses that are poetry”.
The makeup and hair was done by Make Up Madrid, who were in charge of creating an updo for the bride, which she wore with a long veil and a rhinestone crown.
Later, she changed her veil for a giant headdress which was like a flower full of rhinestones, as well as a small row of flowers of the same style at the top of her updo.
Finally, she finished the wedding with a headdress with a giant feather in an original and unique style.
The three headdresses were from La Unike Novias, all handmade in the most artisanal way possible.
The groom, a countryside gentlemen
There are countryside and rural places that have their own unique style and this is why the groom wore a vintage suit for his wedding.
The suit was made up of a jacket, brown trousers with beige vertical lines and antique vintage buttons, also in brown.
Alongside this, he wore a brown leather belt and a basic and traditional white shirt.
