Want to know more about them? Read on!

1. How was Cuerda y Compás born? Was it love at first note or a natural evolution between musicians?

Cuerda y Compás was born as a beautiful symphony between tradition and vocation. We are the fourth generation of a family of musicians, so you could say that music runs through our veins. More than love at first sight, it was a natural evolution: we grew up among scores, rehearsals, and stages, and we decided to transform that legacy into a professional offering that combined musical excellence with unforgettable emotions.

2. Every wedding is unique. What’s the first thing that inspires you when preparing the repertoire for a couple?

The first thing we do is listen. Each couple has a different story, energy, and sensitivity. We’re inspired by your tastes, your style, and the atmosphere you want to create. From there, we design a tailor-made repertoire, like a handmade musical costume, that reflects your essence and accompanies every moment with just the right emotion.

3. What has been the most unusual or unforgettable wedding or event you’ve played at?

One of the most unforgettable was a wedding in Morocco, in a traditional riad in the heart of Marrakech. The ceremony was held outdoors, surrounded by lanterns, Berber carpets, and the scent of orange blossom. We were asked to fuse classical music with Arabic touches, and it was an experience as intense as it was magical. The cultural mix, the warmth of the guests, and the atmosphere of the venue made it a truly unique event.

4. Have you ever had to improvise in the middle of a performance? Tell us that story!

Yes, and it was a lot of fun. At one wedding, just as we were starting to play the bride and groom’s entrance song, one of the children in the wedding party approached the group and began “directing” us with a twig as if it were a baton. Instead of stopping, we kept playing and let ourselves be carried away by his enthusiasm. The guests laughed, the bride and groom were moved, and the little one became the youngest conductor we’ve ever had. It was a spontaneous moment that added tenderness and joy to the ceremony.

5. What sets Cuerda y Compás apart from other musical group for weddings and events?

Our difference lies in the combination of three pillars: interpretive excellence, humane treatment, and versatility. We are not just musicians; we are storytellers of emotions. We adapt to each event with flexible training, a personalized repertoire, and attention to detail that turns each performance into a unique experience.

6. Imagine a themed wedding (Star Wars, vintage, medieval…). Which was the most original one you’ve performed at?

A Star Wars-themed wedding was, without a doubt, one of the most original and fun! The groom made his entrance escorted by Imperial soldiers, while the Imperial March played by our string quartet. But the most surprising thing was that every single song we performed during the ceremony was from the Star Wars universe. From Leia’s theme to Yoda’s, each piece was carefully selected to accompany the different moments of the event. It was like experiencing a wedding in a galaxy far, far away.

7. What musical style excites you most to perform live? And which one challenges you the most as a musical group for weddings and events?

We’re especially excited about film music, because it connects with deep memories and emotions. Performing pieces like “Life is Beautiful” or “Glasgow Love Theme” always gives us goosebumps. The biggest challenge, without a doubt, is adapting contemporary songs to classical ensembles without losing their essence. But we love that challenge.

8. What has been the most spectacular venue where you’ve played as a musical group for weddings and events?

Throughout our career, we’ve had the privilege of performing in some of the finest estates and churches throughout Spain, each with its own unique charm. But if we had to single out some truly spectacular venues, we would mention the Teatro Real in Madrid, for its history and majestic acoustics; the Toledo Cathedral and the Burgo de Osma Cathedral, both architectural gems that elevate any performance; and La Granja de San Ildefonso in Segovia, where the music blends with the beauty of its gardens and palaces. Each venue has offered us a different experience, but all have contributed to making the music even more magical.

9. If you had to choose one song to describe your essence as a musical group for weddings and events, which would it be and why?

“Pachelbel’s Canon.” It’s elegant, emotional, timeless, and has a structure that is built in harmony, like our teamwork. It’s also one of the most requested pieces by our couples, making it part of our history.

10. What’s the nicest thing a couple has said to you after playing at their wedding?

A couple wrote to us the next day saying, “We don’t know how to thank you for what you did yesterday. The music was like an invisible thread that tied every moment of our day together. You made us cry, laugh, and dream. It was perfect.” Messages like these touch our souls and remind us that, beyond the notes, what we truly share are emotions.

11. What’s a typical day like in the life of Cuerda y Compás when there are events?

It begins with a repertoire review, instrument check, and logistics. Then, we travel to the venue with plenty of time for sound checks and coordination with the organizers. Once the music starts, everything flows. And when it’s over, there’s always a feeling of gratitude and satisfaction that’s hard to describe.

12. Do you have any rituals before going out to play? (We want to know if there are any superstitions or quirks!)

The truth is, we don’t have any specific rituals or superstitions. What we do is always prepare with great care and concentration before each performance. Each event is unique, so we focus on reviewing the last details, taking a deep breath, and enjoying the privilege of making music during such special moments.

13. What musical advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding and want it to be unforgettable?

They should choose music with their heart. It’s not just about what’s in fashion, but what moves them. Music has the power to mark moments forever, so our advice is: personalize it, experience it, and let it speak for you.

14. Finally, if your group were a cocktail party, what ingredients would it include and what would it be called?

It would be called “Secret Melody” and would include: a base of family tradition (like a good aged liqueur), a touch of elegance (champagne, of course), notes of creativity (elderflower liqueur), and a dash of emotion (a squeeze of lemon). Served in a Bohemian crystal glass, with a sweet melody in the background.
