When should the perfect speech be written?

In advance! Yes, don’t run out of time, so prepare it well and make sure your nerves don’t affect you!

Also, by writing it in advance you will not forget to prepare it! A wedding speech can’t be missing at a wedding!

When should the wedding speech be read?

In a wedding there are different moments that are more in accordance with others when it comes to making the speech, like those moments in which all of the guests are seated, relaxed and comfortable to pay their full attention to your words.

It is also very important that, if some music is playing at that time, the melody plays in the background so that it does not interfere when listening to the speech.

For us, the preferred time to read the speech is when the reception meal ends and the cake is cut, since that moment is when everyone has a drink in hand and can toast after your reading.

How to write the perfect wedding speech?

For this to be a success, we recommend mixing emotions with subtle humour, and with humour we refer to the one that doesn’t embarrass any of those who are present and that the words that are going to be recited can be said in front of all the guests.

With a short introduction, a build-up and closing with a toast, you will have made everyone laugh and cry at the same time.

What to say in the perfect speech?

Anything representative of the couple or for some of the guests. For example, you can start with the most emotional topics, such as narrating the moment you met, a story from your childhood or saying why you married that person.

Then, you can continue with funnier topics, involving the rest of the guests and telling some funny anecdote with your brother-in-law, your cousins or your grandparents. Of course, try to make sure that the funny details can be understood by everyone and that no one feels offended.

And if on this important day, you notice an absence, it is also a precious moment to mention those who are not there. A precious detail!

It’s time to thank

Take advantage of this great day in which you will have all of your loved ones by your side and you will have a microphone in hand, it is the perfect occasion to thank all of your guests for everything they have done for you, thanking those who have travelled far for coming and those who have been involved in your wedding, etc. Don’t stop thanking!

Include poems or songs

They will save you! If writing is not your thing, you have to know that poetry is great to use in wedding speeches, as well as songs.

So, you can always recite excerpts from poems or specific phrases from songs that remind you of your partner or are special to you. Very original!

Short and sweet is sometimes best

Do you remember hearing a long speech that ended up being the most boring? Well that is what we don’t want to happen!

Choose a short speech, but not too short. 5 minutes of speech is appropriate to keep all the guests’ attention at all times.

Always be yourself

Yes, use those words that you usually use every day that reflect your way of being, since, if you are a more cheerful, lively and jovial person, it doesn’t make sense for your speech to be more cultured and formal.

The same is true the other way around, because if you are a more serious and prudent person, no one will recognise you if you make a crazy and ridiculous speech.

Be careful with your intonation

There are many people who find it difficult to speak in public and therefore pronounce incorrectly. So, if you want to make sure it sounds good and is understood, pronounce it slowly, vocalising and emphasising different words.

Avoid a low and monotonous tone, since it will cause you not to be understood, it will be boring and, therefore, people will disconnect and stop listening to you. So…

Don’t forget to rehearse it!

Whether in front of the mirror, in front of your pet or with any family member, this will give you a lot of security when taking the mic!

And if you get tongue-tied on the big day, don’t worry because it is very normal and can happen, so if it happens to you…laugh like everyone else and continue from where you left off!

Pssst! Take a copy of the speech written down

Although we recommend you not to read it to make it more natural, we also recommend that you keep a copy written down in case you don’t remember what was coming next.

There is no time for improvisation! Unless you are very good at it, have your speech handy on paper or small cards to help you remember in case you go blank, but we are sure that will not happen!
