The majestic fortress of Torre Loizaga, a former defensive bastion of the Ochoa García de Loyzaga lineage, stands in a captivating landscape in the mountains of Basque Country, 30 kilometres from Bilbao, in the Encartaciones region, since the 14th century. It was rescued from its ruins by the businessman and collector from Galdames, Miguel de la Vía, who undertook an important reconstruction work, where he preserved its original medieval aesthetics with a certain romantic character.

2. Asador Arraiz

The ‘Pastoretxe’ farmhouse, a building which is almost 300 years old, with typical Basque architecture, was converted into the Asador Arraiz by its owners, from whom that place has absorbed its passion for catering.

Just 9 minutes from the centre of Bilbao, Asador Arraiz is a favourite for couples looking for an open-air wedding. The renewed character of its garden has become a real attraction, with short wave heating to ensure pleasant temperatures when the weather is bad.

In addition, an outdoor tent can accommodate 220 guests and there is a chill-out area with views of the Pagasarri on one side and Bilbao on the other, making it a unique setting with a rustic character.

3. Hotel María Cristina

Since its inauguration in 1912, the Hotel María Cristina has been intimately linked to the history and culture of the city of San Sebastián.

This Hotel was designed by the renowned architect Charles Mewes. The hotel has a perfect location and wonderful views of the sea, making the Hotel María Cristina one of the favourite accommodations of high circles.
