Creativity is something that you can develop, so if you’re an event organizer and feel that you are lacking in this skill, don’t worry!

Everyone is born with the gift of creativity to a certain degree. The best thing you can do to nurture and grow more creative is by investing time in learning how to be a more creative event organizer. Successful events in Spain rely on the creativity of the organizer, because this factor affects all aspects of event organization: from coming up with a realistic budget, to conceptualizing themes, adding memorable details, and many more.

Here are some tips to help you enhance your creativity as an event organizer:

1. Use the counterfactual thinking concept of psychology.

In doing so, take into consideration the objective and goals of a specific event and keep asking yourself, “What if”? This way it enables you to imagine different scenarios and themes that can change the outcome, either positively or negatively.

Use information you’ve gathered from past experiences in your career. This will help you eliminate factors that didn’t contribute to the success, and focus on asking yourself “What if” questions by adding other elements.

2. Keep yourself updated with the latest trends with events in Spain.

Subscribe to newsletters, analyze what your competitors are doing, and attend events yourself especially those that you aren’t organizing. Take notes about new aspects of event organization, design, theme, and execution that you’ve observed. This will help you think out of the box the next time you’ll have to pitch new, creative ideas for your client.

3. Do what you need to do in order to have a good mood while brainstorming and researching for new ideas.

If you are stressed out or feeling negative, this won’t help you enrich your creative ideas especially in the field of event management. Some things you can do to stay in a positive mood include listening to music you enjoy, taking short breaks or going for a walk, engage in a few minutes of play (have a play room at work where your coworkers can play board games and other temporarily distracting activities that can stimulate creativity).

In fact, many event organizers also find it helpful to unwind after work by drinking a little vine with colleagues to release stress, relax, and help ideas flow more naturally.

4. Try new things that have nothing to do with event management.

People from all walks of life often find that experimenting and trying new things helps the creative juices flow. Travel to a new place and observe the culture, try a new sport, read a book, or learn a new skill. Even if these things aren’t directly related to event management, they have been proven effective at stimulating creativity while helping you feel more invigorated.

5. Always be open to new ideas, and ask for them when needed.

Sometimes, when you’re in a rut, you don’t realize that it’s because you’ve only been entertaining your own ideas the entire day. Talk to people in and out of the industry and ask for their feedback – this could spark a whole new concept that will benefit your creativity; and ultimately, career.
