Two millionaire families have celebrated their Indian wedding in Barcelona, covering an endless number of venues with luxury and exclusivity, including the Hotel Vela and the Llotja de Mar.
During the several days of the celebration, which was not short on expenses, almost 500 guests of the Asian high society and more than 700 workers were in charge of making sure that everything went off perfectly.
These two heirs of two big Indian business families from Mumbai and Calcutta said “I do” in Barcelona by the Hindu rite, leaving in their wake millions of dollars and surprising with endless details.
The multi-millionaire couple chose Barcelona because they love the capital and the sea. They also travelled to Spain more than five times to make sure everything was to their liking.
It should be noted that the wedding was celebrated with great discretion and privacy, so there are hardly any photographs. But we know the chosen venues, where the guests slept, who organised the event, and much more.
You can’t miss it!
The Llotja de Mar, the first venue
The Indian wedding in Barcelona began at the Llotja de Mar, where the almost 500 guests of the Indian high society, plus some Spanish entities, gathered.
It was that place where a few days before the wedding reception was held, and where the guests were able to enjoy a tasting of the Indian food and wine. And where the attendees were able to taste some succulent dishes under the roofs of halls full of magic and history.
Other events at Poble Espanyol and Can Magí in Sant Cugat del Vallès
Other events were held at Poble Espanyol and Masía Can Magí in Sant Cugat del Vallès, characterised by a mixture of Indian and Spanish cultures, with both Asian and Spanish cuisine.
The Catalan house in the surroundings of Barcelona was chosen by the family to celebrate the mehndi, an event in which the bride’s hands are painted with henna. The Castellers de Vilafranca’s performance was also part of the event.
In turn, the guests went to the Poble Espanyol to enjoy the day, which was closed exclusively for the occasion and so the wedding had Catalan overtones.
The Hospital de Sant Pau, the next venue
Wedding ceremony was held in the south courtyard of the Art Nouveau Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona, although the reception had previously been held in the north courtyard.
To enjoy both the wedding and the reception, a whole convoy of high-class cars and vintage vehicles were driven to Sant Pau to transport the guests, who caught the attention of all the passers-by.
Hotel Vela was a witness of two private events
This great Indian wedding in Barcelona had two more private events at the Hotel Vela. It was the place where the bride and groom gathered with their guests and performed many of the traditions and rites that are celebrated at Hindu weddings.
In all, they booked up to 200 rooms in this skyscraper hotel, despite the city being overbooked. Some guests opted for the most luxurious suites, which cost up to 11,000 euros for the most luxurious: the Extreme Wow Suite, with incredible views of the Mediterranean and the city of Barcelona.
Again, as lovers of the sea, the hotel was chosen because the fin-shaped tower that looks like a reminder of the sea and sailing.
Accommodation on luxury yachts
The groom, who wanted to arrive at his Indian wedding in Barcelona by helicopter, also had other requests for his guests: to accommodate them on yachts.
Yes, the Asian high society spent several nights at the seaport on luxury yachts. That is why some of the venues for the celebration were close to the harbour, for even greater comfort.
More than 700 people involved
As you read it, the total number of workers involved in the Indian wedding in Barcelona of this multimillionaire couple is estimated at over 700.
Gau Catering, based in Castelldefels, was in charge of preparing the party, and the Wedding Planner was Toni Seguí.
On the other hand, the catering was provided by Sensacions and the floral decoration was the work of Flors Amelia.
The mega-agency eFactor Management also took the reins from India, bringing in its own catering company, which collaborated with the Spanish Foodlink.
Warq Tourism, a Barcelona-based travel & event agency specialising in luxury events, also coordinated the event on the ground from Spain.
