Sam and Angus' wedding in Girona in the middle of a forest and next to a Catalan country house.

In this post we present the wedding in Girona of Sam and Angus, a couple who chose Catalonia for their destination wedding.

Yes, this province is their favourite destination in Spain as it has everything: sea, mountains, gastronomy, history, culture, art, good weather, lots of neighbourhoods…

That’s why our bride and groom are in love with Spain, Catalonia and specifically Girona, and they didn’t hesitate for a second to get married in this region!

Girona, charm and romance

Did you know that Girona is becoming a popular wedding destination, as much with Spanish nationals as it is with foreigners? It is a safe bet!

This is a province full of traditional and indigenous elements, such as its buildings par excellence: the country houses.

The country houses are stone temples that are a true marvel and the dream place for a wedding celebration. And that is what our bride and groom did: they chose a Catalan country house to celebrate their wedding in Girona.

But beforehand, the ceremony took place, so keep reading!

The forest, the place to say “I do”

The romantic ceremony was celebrated in the forest, next to a stone porch decorated with peonies, roses and different types of leaves and greens.

The floral centrepieces of the moment were placed in antique stone vases, creating a feeling of bygone eras and of decadent and elegant romanticism.

The space was set up with white wooden chairs for the guests, vases filled with flowers on columns to decorate the aisle and lots of leaves.

We love brides and grooms who choose to get married in the middle of nature!

A Catalan country house to celebrate

Mas Cruanyes was the country house chosen by the bride and groom to celebrate their wedding reception, a 16th century Catalan farmhouse located in the heart of the Costa Brava, in the Baix Empordà (Girona).

The spaciousness and spectacular nature of its gardens, together with the characteristics and versatility of its interiors, made the bride and groom want to celebrate their wedding there.

A spacious venue with antique furniture and a large living room with sophisticated sofas, views of the surrounding gardens, an outdoor swimming pool, extensive gardens and sea views.

In addition, the house has suites that the bride and groom were able to use, as well as a lounge with a fireplace, three connected rooms, a 400 square metre open-plan annex room and a large outdoor pavilion in the garden.

A bridal bouquet in powdered colours

Sam’s bouquet was an elegant composition of coral-coloured peonies together with roses, dahlias and different types of leaves.

An unstructured and languid bouquet that perfectly matched the romantic design Sam wore to her wedding.

Powdery colours, decadent flowers and a touch of coral made for a vibrant bouquet that was a real eye-catcher.

Natural and simple decoration

The idea of a natural, romantic and simple decoration totally fitted in with the surroundings and achieved a spectacular and fresh effect.

The tables were also decorated in a very natural way as they were filled with garlands of roses and olive branches on the clean surface of the wood.

Next to the centrepieces, there were raffia plate runners and glassware, crockery and cutlery with pure and simple lines – we love it!

Guests sheltered from the sun

Guests at this wedding in Girona were greeted with chests and old suitcases containing parasols and hats to help them cope with the heat of a summer night.

As well as sheltering from the heat, this also provided an adventurous and well-travelled touch, just as the bride and groom are.

Signature table for remembrance

A simple wooden table held the signature book, decorated with an antique gramophone filled with flowers and leaves.

On the signature table were also placed different small white cages and flowers, and some details for the party.

Seating inspired by a movie

As you read it! The seating plan for this wedding was inspired by the two main actors in the film Lost in Translation.

It featured two long rectangular tables that accommodated the 90+ guests.

Classic and select stylings

The bride wore a traditional white dress full of floral embroidery from top to bottom with some slight transparency. The look was accompanied by a tulle veil that covered her up-do.

On the other hand, the groom chose for his big day a navy blue suit with a white shirt, a printed bow tie and an olive leaf pin.

A photographer to match

Since a wedding in Girona is a wedding full of romanticism and magic thanks to its country houses, the result of the photographs was amazing.

The lens in charge of capturing every moment was Pablo Laguía, Ana and Pablo, who together form a great team while enjoying beautiful stories all over the world.
