Breakfast in Mallorca
It depends on each local establishment, but most cafés will be open to serve breakfast from around 08:00, sometimes earlier. If you would like to try an authentic Mallorcan breakfast dish then we would recommend an ensaïmada, which is a type of spiral pastry, or you could opt for a pa amb oli (which is also sometimes referred to as ‘pan con tomate’, which consists of a slice of bread topped with tomato, olive oil and some salt.
As previously mentioned, if you don’t feel like opting for something local, there are multiple international breakfast options available, often in the tourist areas, offering food such as a Full English Breakfast or American-style pancakes.
Lunch in Mallorca
Lunch in Mallorca usually takes place between 13:00 and 15:00. Most restaurants will offer a Menú del día (menu of the day), which is a set menu offering three courses and a drink. Similarly, if you want something lighter for lunch, various establishments may offer a Plat del dia which is one course accompanied by a drink.
Dinner in Mallorca
In Spain it is common to have dinner very late, usually at around 21:00 or 23:00, however most restaurants will be open from around 19:30 or 20:30. If you are planning on eating out, we recommend you to reserve the table in advance to make sure that you are able to eat in your chosen restaurant or bar. This is particularly important during the summer due to high demand.
Some restaurants in Mallorca may bring the bill with you will a small copa of alcohol, complimentary of the restaurant to thank you for dining there.
Types of coffee in Mallorca
In Spain coffee is one of the most consumed drinks throughout the day. Here are the most common types available:
Café solo – black coffee (no milk added)
Café con leche – standard coffee served with milk
Cortado – small coffee with milk
Americano – weak black coffee
Furthermore, if you want to add alcohol to your café solo you can ask for a carajillo. The options are usually Amazonas (the local Mallorcan rum), cognac or Baileys.
What should I wear in Mallorca?
It is uncommon to dress very formally on the island; informal casual clothing is more common. However, if you are planning on going to an exclusive, luxury restaurant then make sure you stick to a smart-casual dress code.
Dining with children in Mallorca
Due to tourism in Mallorca and its family-friendly atmosphere, children are always welcome at most restaurants and bars with their parents and families. Children are not allowed to go to adult-only hotels.

There are many Cappuccino establishments in Mallorca all over the island in areas such as Palma, Puerto Portals, Valldemossa, Port de Pollença, Palma Nova and Port d’Andratx. These offer great coffee, food and drinks throughout the day.
