Beach or mountain, valleys or cities full of history. Asturias is a complete paradise that conveys a special charm on the Cantabrian Sea’s shores. It stands out with its green landscape that make anyone falling in love whenever they get close to the cliffs, when they bath in Asturias movie’s beaches, climb the mountain or visit one of the villages where it seems that time has not elapsed. Celebrating your destination wedding in Asturias is getting the opportunity to choose a spot which is both rural and urban. You already know that celebrating a destination wedding and not spending a few days to get to know the place would be unforgivable, thus hereunder we give you some plans to do in Asturias before leaving this land

  1. Feel the dizziness on the Ruta del Cares where you will walk between abrupt rock walls. A road carved in the mountains’ rocks between the locality of  Caín and Poncebos passing through the river, farmhouse, the Chorco de los Lobos and several viewing points. 
  2. Visit the huge futurist complex Niemeyer, in Avilés, a UNESCO masterpiece where you can attend famous artists’ performances, see expositions and try the gastronomy of prestigious cooks in addition to enjoying the best panoramic views of the city.  
  3. Visit Cudillero, one of the best Asturian villages because it is a seafaring village that conserved all its enchantment with an explosion of color. Take a walk between its alleys and become amazed at its white traditional houses with multicolor frameworks. 
  4. Dosurf on the crashing waves of the beaches. Asturias is the perfect place to get full of adrenaline, principally in the Playa de las Salinas, in the Playa de San Lorenzo or in the Playa de Otur. End up the afternoon looking at the beautiful sunset on one of those beaches! 

What to do in Asturias during the days of your wedding

  1. Get to taste the typical gastronomy of Asturias in its provincial capital, Oviedo, going from bar to bar in the famous Gascona’s street, without forgetting drinking some sidrines or eating a fabada, a cachopo or the Asturian stew. A gastronomy that went from generation to generation and which is still preserved today. 
  2. Do a car ride in La Cuevona, one of the few carriageable caves and where you can stay mouth open while seeing the impressive chalk formations, the obscurity, the stalactites and the stalagmites. Such an original visit! 
  1. Discover the Museo de la Minería y de la Industria climbing down in the depths in the “jaula”,  a typical mining elevator which goes down to 600 meters under the ground and makes you feel as an authentic miner, where you can hear the hammer’s noise and get the opportunity to stroll around within the train that was used by the formers workers of the mining. 
  1. Get closer to the incredible views offered by the cliffs, such as in Cabo Vidio which offers amazing sunsets, the Playa del Silencio with wild cliffs or in the Busto with huge cliffs surrounding the lighthouse with one of Spain’s best bakery where you can try popular desserts from Asturias. 

  1. Visiting the Lagos de Covadonga, of glacial origin with 3 lagoons and which allow you to get an accommodation in one of the rural houses, shelters or refuges. Don’t forget to visit the Santuario or the Santa Cueva above a water cascade and excavated on the rock where lays the patron Saint of the Asturies. 
  2. Get down to el Sella in kayak, enjoy this natural promenade on the Sella’s streams, in total security and get exalted. You can cross it until the Galician border in this river fall!  
  3. Get lost in the forest on the Ruta del Infierno, where you will cross oak and chestnut trees, little falls, a spectacular beech, cascades, gorges and where you will find on your path recreational areas with tables and benches where you can rest and restock on energy, until you stop to a typical Asturian house. 
  4. Stroll along the villa de Taramundi and get to know the cutlery art, the windmill’s biggest museum of Spain or the ethnographic museum of Esquíos, with thousands of old pieces. Moreover, you will try the most typical and tasty cheeses. Not to mention Asturia’s water, between lakes and streams.
