Tips to plan a perfect wedding on the beach

If you want to celebrate a wedding on the beach, you can not miss this post in which we review all the points you must keep in mind for the celebration to be a success.

Marrying on the beach is a very romantic vision for many couples who are planning to have a destination wedding. Sea views, soft sand and the sun shining on you whilst you marry the person you love is something dreams are made of. But there are lots of things to consider when planning a successful beach wedding and in this article we go through these things point by point to help you plan your ideal beach wedding.

Check the regulations

The first thing you must do when planning a wedding on the beach is to make sure that the local government of the area allow weddings to take place on the beach you wish to marry on. Once you know if you’re permitted to hold your wedding on the beach, you can start making your vision become a reality.

In addition you should check out what you’re allowed to do on the beach – are you allowed to drink alcohol there? If you want your party there will you be allowed fireworks? These are just a few examples of things to clue up on.

Entire or partial beach wedding?

The next thing to consider is how much of your wedding you want to take place on the beach – do you want just your ceremony there, or just your reception or both? A popular choice is to have the ceremony on the beach then move elsewhere for the reception, as it is easier and more private to host a party elsewhere – unless you can hire out the whole beach just for you and your guests. As in our previous point, if you want the reception on the beach too consider whether or not you are allowed to consume food and drink on the beach before you commit to hosting your reception there.

Convenience

You need to think about whether or not your beach is easily accessible for your guests –  take into consideration if any of your guests are elderly and may require help getting onto the beach if there is not an easy entrance. Also plan ahead about seating arrangements – is it possible to get chairs on the beach for your guests to sit on?

Wedding attire

On your wedding day it is important that you can wear the dress of your dreams, however you must consider whether or not the dresses you are looking at would be appropriate for a beach wedding. If you are celebrating only one part of your wedding on the beach, you could always opt for two dresses!

For the groom, a popular choice is to forget the classic tuxedo and heavy black suit and opt for a lighter outfit, such as a loose white shirt and beige cotton trousers which are a lot more appropriate for the beach.

Consider the weather

Having a beach wedding is perfect in a country with a sunny warm climate where there is a low risk of rain, so consider the weather and climate of the country in which you want to get married on the beach –  spain would be perfect! Also take into account the tide: during some parts of the day there is high tide and other times there is low tide. When it’s high tide there will be less beach so consider this when you are planning where to put everything – you don’t want to suddenly panic if you see the tide coming in!

Decoration

The beach is a beautiful enough setting without having lots of decor, but it is always nice to have a ceremony with flowers and decorations. If decoration is something you feel passionate about for your beach wedding, you could choose colours which contrast from the sand and sea such as pinks or greens to really make your wedding decor stand out!

Guests

Ensure that your guests are aware well in advance that you will be getting married on a beach so they can plan appropriate attire for your big day. Your female guests will consider this when choosing what type of shoes and dresses to wear, and your male guests will likely opt out of wearing a full suit.

It could also be a nice touch to include beach appropriate gifts if you are doing welcome packages, such as fans to keep them cool, or little bottles of suncream.
