The wedding was full of wedding-related fashion, such as Marie’s sheer puff-sleeve dress by Angela Pedregal and a hairstyle that included a headband full of feathers. They wanted to celebrate their love by strolling around the city, sharing churros, and dancing at sunset in front of a Royal Palace. The green scenery and the beautiful architecture of Madrid made this elopement something unique.

They chose Madrid because it’s the city that embraced them and where they decided that they wanted to live. They fell in love with it and thought that they couldn’t get married anywhere else.

The ceremony, being short, was a memorable part of their day. They interchanged vows with the Retiro Park as their background, and even had their first dance at sunset! The photographers played their favorite song on a portable speaker and danced as if nobody was watching them, despite being in the heart of the city.

Piece of advice from the bride: get yourself a wedding planner! John and Marie thought that it was going to take ages to organize the wedding, but they achieved it in only two months!

And if you have some crazy idea… let the wedding planner know! They, for example, wanted to eat at one of their favorite spots in the Barrio de las Letras. This, for a more traditional wedding, may sound strange, but it was something they really wanted to do!

They enjoyed their favorite foods on their wedding day. The menu was somehow atypical since everything depended on the dishes that their preferred local restaurants were going to serve. An example of what they ate was fried calamari, and for dessert churros from San Ginés! It may sound odd, but it’s very typical in Madrid.
